After editing in Corel Paintshop Pro Photo X2 why can't I open my pictures without using corel?

After i edit the pictures and put them in a folder I burn them to a cd. But if I put the cd in another computer without the corel program in it the pictures won't open up. why?? it won't even open at the walgreen's kiosk.

Is there anyway to open them without using corel at all? Even in my computer?? It's extremely aggravating. Please help me out! Thanks
After editing in Corel Paintshop Pro Photo X2 why can't I open my pictures without using corel?
It's probably because if you saved the file in Corel, it becomes a Corel file, thus you're not able to open it without Corel.
After editing in Corel Paintshop Pro Photo X2 why can't I open my pictures without using corel?
After editing, did you flatten the image to combine everything you had done ?

If you don't do that, you can only save the image as a Corel file.

Also check which file options you can save to, the usual ones to use are tif, bmp or jpg.

I was just wondering what Botero used to paint his pictures. Was it pastels or oils?

He appears to work mostly in oils.

Whats the name of the type of photograph where the cameraman presses the button and sneaks into the picture?

Well, if only the cameraman is in the shot, it is called a self-portrait. This is done, as you know, using the self-timer on the camera.

Usually they don't "sneak" into the shot, but plan to be there. If however they are trying for a "cameo" within their images, they can use reflections within the frame or just jump into the shot.
Whats the name of the type of photograph where the cameraman presses the button and sneaks into the picture?
They use the selftimer almost all cameras even the most basic has a self timer on it ~~if you have lost your manual take your camera where cameras are sold and someone there should be able to show you how it works ~~Have fun ~~

Do I need to seal a watercolor painting?

I've painted a few pictures with watercolors, and one with additional chalk(?) pastels also, and I'd like to sell these pictures some day,but I was wondering if I should seal them with..something.

And if so,what is good to use in this situation and where I can find it?
Do I need to seal a watercolor painting?
go to your local art supply store and ask for a spray sealant for watercolours and pastels that will not change the colour of the image. but be careful. ask for a demonstration. we once had a sealant that supposedly went over pencil, charcoal etc without altering the surface and it left white chemical deposits on the drawing; moreover the manufacturer would not do anything to help. so i don't have a company name right now.

How long does the average pen last before running out of ink?

?
How long does the average pen last before running out of ink?
You are bound to find advertised averages as stated by the pen manufacturer, but otherwise that is an awfully broad question.

A review of Sanford Liquid Expresso pens on epinions.com estimates two months for this type of pen.

http://www.epinions.com/review/Sanford_L...

Gullible.info asserts that "the average pen could draw a line 1.5 miles long before running out of ink."

http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:IoX...

The Fisher Space Pen claims to raise the bar to "a continuous line over 30 miles long," purportedly lasting 80 YEARS!

Local skaters Kalamazoo MI?

I'm putting out an audition for skaters in the Kalamazoo area, who would be possible actors for a movie I'm making about a gang of skaters. You don't really have to be a skater, so long as you can ride a skateboard. It's non profit, so you wouldn't be paid. It'll be a ton of fun to make, so I'm looking forward to some volunteers.

Where can I find an online site that can Isolate one color in a picture (with the rest black and white).?

For example, a picture of an umbrella, where the entire background is b%26amp;w but the umbrella itself is bright red. I know apparently you can do this on the camera itself, but I don't have that kind.

Also, I don't have any special program like photoshop or opencanvas!

Thank you
Where can I find an online site that can Isolate one color in a picture (with the rest black and white).?
you can do it by downloading picasa and using the focal black and white editing thing.
Where can I find an online site that can Isolate one color in a picture (with the rest black and white).?
you can try photobucket.... it wil let you crop a portion of it and desaturatet he colour out of the rest

your best bet is starting with a full color pic cause if you go black and white photobuckte doesnt have a hue saturation mode just a paint bucket and that will make a real photo look "off"
Reply:You can use the online version of Photoshop:

https://www.photoshop.com/express/landin...

As is true of many procedures in Photoshop, there are several ways of doing selective color. This is a quick and easy method.

First open your photo in PS of course.

Then go to Layer - Duplicate Layer

Click OK

Then go to Image - Adjustments - Hue / Saturation

Drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left to make the photo black and white.

Click OK

Then get the ERASER tool from the tool box on the left side of the screen. It is usually the next tool under the clone stamp tool. Just hover your mouse over the tool, and it will say Eraser.

When you have selected the Eraser, go up to the Brush options box at the top of the screen, and click on the downfacing arrow. Set the Hardness of the brush to 100% so you will have accurate control of selection. You may also need to raise or lower the brush size to suit.

Erase away any black and white from where you want the color to be revealed.

When done go to

Layer - Flatten Image

Then just do a Save As to wherever you want to save the photo.

hope this helps you

In 'Photoshop Elements 3.0' How do you get that 'soft' effect?

I think i have the old version. I'm not out to change or alter the way i look [get rid of spots, reshape nose ectect.] in photographs, becuase i dont take many pictures of MYSELF... but in general photography i want to make a 'soft' effect

This is an example of it

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m203/...

Thanks ;)
In 'Photoshop Elements 3.0' How do you get that 'soft' effect?
I think the pictures you found were actually taken in fog/on a foggy day. The "soft" look came from the light conditions when the photo was taken, not necessarily an add on in Photoshop. I encourage you to continue to play with Photoshop. Try the "Filters" and "Effects" options. There is a blur in the filters that might give you a soft look you want.
In 'Photoshop Elements 3.0' How do you get that 'soft' effect?
I agree with Steefee that these appear to be photos taken under conditions that gave the diffused effect naturally. Also, it is possible some type of diffusion / soften filter could have been used on the lens.

But to get a general look somewhat like this in PS, you can do the following:

Layer, duplicate layer.

Filter, blur, gaussian blur

Blur the photo until it is very blurred, but still recognizable.

Then go to the Opacity slider above the layers pallete. Move the slider all the way back to 0.

Then gradually move the slider into the positive range to gradually bring back some of the blur. Usually about 50% will be the most you will ever need.

This can give an overall softness that looks good on some photos, but not all, it just depends on the scene.

If you have an adult family member, teacher etc that is also into photography, ask them for a critique and perhaps to mentor you. In middle school, you may be able to take a photography or art class.

CAN glaze you use on ceramics give you cancer if you drink from a cup with glaze on it?

i gave this girl a cup and she just told me she heard it can give you cancer
CAN glaze you use on ceramics give you cancer if you drink from a cup with glaze on it?
You need to use food-safe glazes, but if you didn't, I think the worst you could get is lead poisoning, and you'd have to use the thing an awful lot even to get that.
CAN glaze you use on ceramics give you cancer if you drink from a cup with glaze on it?
No, it will not give you cancer. Potters today are required by law to not use any lead bearing glazes on functional pottery. If lead is used on a pot there must be a hole in the bottom so it can not hold any liquid.
Reply:Glazes now have what is called a "frit" used to add some of the undesierable elements, the making process of a frit makes them non toxic to use in a glaze. Anything made in Asian(China, Vietnam etc) countries I would be wary off as I and probably anyone else reading this does not know the standards used in these countries. I have seen plates for sale in Australia with stickers on them saying "not to be used with food", after pointing this out to the store owner the next week the plates were still there minus the stickers. Never use a dry glazed pot for food, the surface is not sealed and the glaze usually contains barium.

Photography of people?

I was wondering if it was legal to take pictures of random people without them knowing and distribute them publicly. I wouldn't be selling them or doing any widespread distrubution (they would be for my personal portfolio, and I'm not planning on getting big) and I plan on getting consent before I do anyway (for moral reasons), but incase I don't get to talk to the people I photograph to get consent, if the photo was taken from public property, would it be illegal to put it in my portfolio without consent?
Photography of people?
It isn't persay illegal. People in a public place doing pubilc things...ok. People in a bathroom, in a dressing room, or private places doing private thing....illegal! You would be able to sell anything with out concent but for person portfolio I believe is fine.

p.s. would love to see some of your people shots!

So go ahead. many ppl took pics of me. So what ? i get free publicity. As long as they are in your portfolio and not selling them, they cannot do anything about it.

How can I keep a journal and make it interesting?

If you have ever seen the movie "Bridge to Terabithia" or other movies like that, there are kids or people who keep journals. They creatively write in them, draw in them and everything. How can I keep up with this? Everytime I try and journal write everynow and then, I get bored and don't do it!
How can I keep a journal and make it interesting?
I haven't kept one in a long time. First, make a certain time everyday where you can write in the journal. If you miss a day or have to re-schedule it, that's ok. A journal is a book of your thoughts. You could write on different topics every day, like politics, art, music, write a poem or short story, tell about something that happened to you that day, write about something you heard in the news and tell your feelings about it, walk in the mall or the park and watch other people and write about them. ... what are they doing, what are they thinking about. Use your imagination. Draw some of the things you see, or things you imagine. Sometimes it's just hard to start writing, but when you get started, sometimes it's hard to stop writing.

Tripod, tripod, tripod. Cable release. Use small apertures and long shutter speeds.

Manually set your WB also....

a
What are the best tips to photograph interiors with a digital camera (slr) and architecture?
...and be patient. Great interiors can be ruined by clutter (read: people). Took me thirty minutes to get a decent night shot of the Alamo, waiting for all the tourists to get out of the way.
Reply:Try to get a wide angle lens - the wider the better, but not a fisheye. Pray for guidance in each church that you visit, before you take the camera out of the bag. This does two things. First, it puts you in a proper frame of mind for taking pictures. Second, you are connecting with your subject, which should translate into better photos.

Are you using Maya? I think Bach Rendering (sp?) is the highest quality. Thought It can take a long time depending on your scene/models. Under the settings, I think you can choose whether you want it in a animation vid or just scenes.

What colors do use on your palette?

watercolorist,
What colors do use on your palette?
it really just matters on what I'm planning on painting and if I dont have a plan I just use colors that I feel are right. Most of the time use my feelings to choose what color I should use.
What colors do use on your palette?
There is a difference with what subject I am painting, but there are always some great colors I love use in my pallet. I think with modern painting, earth tones have been subjugated to the more modern colors. I always use earth tones in my paintings like: umber, burnt umber, raw sienna, and green earth, to name just a few. I also adore a color from Williamsburg oils called Turkey umber. It is a dark earth color with a greenish hue. It is wonderful. The other colors that I love that aren't the usual subjects are the transparent colors like the lakes, the beautiful lakes. They are wonderful to glaze with. Lastly the most important color in you pallet is White. In the end, once all the paints are mixed, it works out to at least 65% of the paint used in most paintings. There are many white choices. I like to use Titanium and Unbleached Titanium (a beautiful color) for under paintings, because I am not worried about smudging with my fingers, and lead white for the highlights. White is, although completely taken for granted, the most important color on the pallet. It is this important because mixed along with blacks, complimentary colors, greys, local color (the main color in your subject) and other around darker colors, is what designates value, which in turn, is what creates form in a painting.

I hope this helps

Reply:well all I can think of is the smudge tool on photoshop but if you have the actual print still take it to a place that has to do with resizing and editing prints.

(on another note he looks like a brunette version of Kurt Cobain and that's totally awesome!)
Reply:I'd like to know about the flame affect on your question page.

That's 'hot' !
Reply:Use the clone tool sparingly. If you have issues or anything, email me the pic and I will do it for free. You won't notice the difference.

Forget the healing tool, their is a technique which we use that can clone different part of the pic just like grafting skin to replace a scar.

Up to you....would gladly help you no charge....
Reply:First off, it's going to be time consuming to fix it, so just be prepared.

I'd try running a 'dust and scratches' filter on it first and see if that helps. It may not fix it, but it may make finishing it easier. That's under Filters %26gt; Noise %26gt; Dust and Scratches. Start with a radius of 2 and threshold of 20 and work from there. It does blur the image a bit, so depending on your finish application that may or may not be acceptable.

Next zoom into the photo so you're working at a pixel level around the scratches. Select the "Clone Stamp Tool" and set the pixel size to 2 or 3. Hold down Alt and left click at the same time to set a starting area. Then move over to what you want to fix and mimic the flow of the area. For instance if you begin with the big blight on his hair, alt-click a little above the start and then move in a slightly arched up to down motion. This will sample the pixels and clone them where you're clicking. It helps lend a much more natural tone to the area than just selecting a color and painting with it.

As a side note, this is a great way to go into a young persons face and remove blemishes.

Remember to save your work to a new file - don't over write the original. And save your progress as you go along. You'll be very upset if you are almost done and your computer locks up loosing all the work you've done.

This looks like about an hours worth of work to me. It may take you longer while you're getting used to how the tool works.

Hope this helps.

-Matt
Reply:Best solution: Let Katie do it!

Otherwise, at least it's a high res, large image. To me, there is no substitute for the slow and tedious method of doing this "by hand" with the healing brush and clone tool. Set the healing brush to 8-10 pixels and get started. Save often. If the spot is too near another color, use the clone tool to repair the damage.

Sorry, but this is what I face when I scan old slides that have got SOMEONE'S freaking fingerprints on them!

National museums which buy expensive works of art are wasting taxpayers' money?

why?
National museums which buy expensive works of art are wasting taxpayers' money?
there professional, they know they will go

up in value, it safer than stock and bonds

people pay to see them, in the future

they will be able to sell them to collector

much more, there professors critique painting ,

and there helping arts ,museums make money with show, they sell professional books they get charge a fee to visit the museums

National museums which buy expensive works of art are wasting taxpayers' money?
Most museums are privately funded and don't rely on taxpayer money to purchase works of art. We, assuming you live in America, only have one national museum and most of the expensive works of art in our national museum was donated to it. These donations may be tax write-offs by the people who donate the art but it doesn't cost taxpayers anything.

The more famous museums, like the Guggenheim, the Getty, MOCA, the Kimbell, etc. are all privately funded. As to city owned and operated museums, like Los Angeles County Museum Of Art, our taxpayer money usually only goes to operating coast, not acquisitions. Acquisitions of expensive works of art through such museums come almost always from private trust funds donated to the museum.

I have an odd request but I would be very happy if you photographers could help me out?

I'm building a website called 'Journey of the Shoes' for a class project.

I'm wanting everyone that is willing to take a picture of their shoes where ever they want whether it be a place of special meaning to you, something interesting you've seen or maybe a landmark you live by? You can put anything else in the photo you want except a human. animals are ok but I don't want to have to deal with the whole rights of people in the photos and what not. I'm hoping that by the end of the year I will have photographs from all over the world of one thousand different pairs of shoes. The shoes must not be attached to feet or feet like appendages.

please send your pictures in an attatchment or link form to journeyoftheshoes@live.com

Thank you all so much! and please tell your friends with cameras to take pictures as well!!!

I think it would look cool to make all of the words on the cover look like they were words, letters, and sentences ripped out of magazines. I don't know why, but I find it can have a cool look to it as long as it's not overdone.

Has photography as a craft become extinct?

Sort of, its more computer geeky in the post side now. Except for handling tools during the shoot its sort of less crafty now. I dont miss the chemicals that much......

a
Has photography as a craft become extinct?
sorta the photography classes I'm taking next year is all based around the whole dark-room developing your own pics process .
Has photography as a craft become extinct?
No, just more challenging.
Reply:i dont think so.

i agree that yes, most have moved away from smelly fixer hands to carpal tunnel wrists, but there is still a craft there. How you capture and process images is different, but in the end its still based upon the same principles as film was in light, shadow, color, and angle.
Reply:You know when Kodak introduced the box camera and roll film a little over 120 some odd years ago people worried about the same thing. Whereas previously photography was only in the hands of professionals roll film and the box camera opened up photography to a lot more people. Just because photography was opened up to more people did not negate the aesthetic sensibilities of either the collector or the artist. In fact a lot of good photography was created during hte 20th century despite the fact that every decade which passed photography became easier to practice (SLR design, 35mm,1 hour processing etc...). About this same time that all the professionals were complaining that photography was being spoiled because of the introduction of the box camera and roll film there was a Renaissance in fine art photography in the United States as promoted by Alfred Stieglitz and the photo secessionists which raised the aesthetic and conceptual standards of Photography in America.

Now perhaps you are right in the fact that some of the most prominent figures in photography in terms of publications are for the most part computer geeks and not serious photographers. Unlike 30 years ago, if you put out a how to on photography you also had to be a recognized artist, for instance the Ansel Adams series of photography books.

Now in terms of a loss of craftspeople, I dont feel this is the case. Photography has always been driven by technology but if one wants to be a good practitioner of photographer one does not approach photography as merely a computer scientist or chemist if their true intent is to be a good artisan/crafts person. Knowing how to mix chemistry or use photoshop should not in any way negate the integrity of your artistic sensibilities, and just because digital photography is less visceral of an experience than say traditional silver process photography does not mean that their work is of less value.

Additionally I have noted that there has been a resurgences interest in antiquated silver and non silver processes. Look at groups such as APUG.org or Alternativephotography.com membership is up at these places. Then again you can create just as much junk using silver processes as you can using digital processes.
Reply:In many ways I believe it has. It seems as though few people are interested in actually learning how to take a good photograph by knowing about light, f-stops, shutter speeds, ISO and composition. The mentality is "Take hundreds of pictures and hope some turn out" and/or "I can fix it in Photoshop".

How many times have we seen the question "What is the best setting to use for taking pictures outdoors" or "How do I make the background all blurry" or "I set the shutter speed to 1/1000 and the f-stop to f16 and all my pictures turned out black" or "When I use my flash the people are all washed out" or "Why are all my pictures blurry". Its as though actually reading and studying about photography and how to use the camera is a thing of the past.

I often wonder if people confuse "digital camera" with "magical camera" and really think that just buying a camera and learning how to turn it on and then pointing it at something will result in a good picture.
Reply:Since well over 80% of photographs are now "photoshopped," what used to be called photography is now paint by numbers.

I want to create my own website for my photography?

that would look like this

lcphotography.tk (that is mine. i use freewebs/dot.tk)
I want to create my own website for my photography?
If you do a search on "webhosting" on google you should be able to find a lot of fairly inexpensive webhosting companies. I use Yahoo (Yahoo small business hosting)and 1and1 and I am happy with both. I believe I'm paying $13/month for Yahoo and $7/month for 1and1 (1and1.com). Most webhosts will offer several different packages. IFP3 is another one geared for professional photographers (ifp3.com) but it runs around $30.

I would personally stay away from free webhosts if they place banners on your site. Just doesn't look as professional. Your own domain is essential (which you'll get with just about any decent webhost).

Hope this helps.

Where could I find a good character generator online?

I'm looking for something like elouai or hero machine. I need some kind of picture to help me visualize my story characters better. I can't draw at all, so please don't tell me too. How do I print out coloured paper?

I am doing a project and I want to slightly colour my paper completely on one side using a printer. I know I can just colour it with coloured pencils or something but I prefer to print it out.

Does anyone know of sites (or any programs) that have a collection of colours for me to choose from that I can print out? I don't want a margin around the paper; the entire paper should be in colour.

Just like those sites that allow the printing of graph paper, I want coloured paper.

Thanks everyone. =)
How do I print out coloured paper?
Just go to paint and color it, then print it.

you could always go up to kinkos or something and buy some colored paper, they have lots of different colors there, and then just put it in your printer and do it that way.

Any tips on Airbrushing you can help me with?

I have a new airbrush... it's a single action full metal gravity feed. My cousin is wanting me to do a good job and design on his racing helmet for him. But I need some help in what I am doing... tape or no tape? Stencils? or what. I am new to airbrushing but I am not new to art work. I can use a pencil greatly... can someone please help me?
Any tips on Airbrushing you can help me with?
use low tack tape or friskfilm. Do lots of practice on paper and bits of scrap metal before you begin.

Paint using specialist urethane airbrush paints, and finish with clear-coat.

Good "gothic" artwork.?

Im sure the main question is misleading because I am not exactly sure what I am looking for and since I am fairly uneducated in the field of art, gothic is the term which I choose to describe it. I would like to buy a print of art which has a very dark and dreary feeling to it, yet it is still beautiful. Im sorry my question is so vague but if anyone understands what I getting at, could you help me out.
Good "gothic" artwork.?
try etsy.com. There are TONS of independent artists, and you can search by what subject (gothic) or by what media type (photo, oils, acrylic). And there's something for every price range.

Have you ever lost a camera ?

I almost did , though the only thing my warranty doesn't cover is it getting lost , the dude that sold me the camera said that even if it falls off the grand canyon and burst into smithereens , they will replace it with a new one :)

thank you :)
Have you ever lost a camera ?
Well, if you lose your camera, just tell them that it's in the bottom of the Grand Canyon then. (haha) Take note that the warranty probably only covers one such loss.

Well, besides one camera that was stolen (3 in my lifetime, actually...) I lost one in the lining of my coat! I put my little pocket camera into an inside pocket of a particular coat without realizing there was a hole in the pocket. I just slipped it in and let it go. It dropped through the hole and ended up near the bottom of the coat. Thank goodness, there was not a hole down there! It took me a long time to find out there was a hole. I just KNEW I had put that camera into that pocket and I finally stuck my hand in. I don't know what I was expecting to find, but I sure wasn't expecting to find a hole! After that, I knew where to look for the camera. I'm luck I didn't sit on it or something.
Have you ever lost a camera ?
I lost my camera in Rome and couldn't think where I'd left it at all, then when I went back three weeks later it was in the restaraunt I'd left it in :D I was very happy. But yeah, I've never come across a warranty for a piece of hardware that covers it getting lost.
Reply:yep on a cruise found it the next day in lost and found
Reply:I have never lost it, I just leave it laying somewhere and forget where and i'm like OMG where is my camera.
Reply:lol yep i have. i cried for so many days lol silly but still it feels like a piece of my body got lost :P
Reply:No, but the yearbook staff in my high shool left the cameras and hard drives on a girls car's trunk. And it all got stolen, so they had to buy all the expensive cameras and all again, and also start taking pictures from scratch.
Reply:Not lost, but stolen.

Nikon F2AS and Nikon FM2.

Felt like I was raped.

Did you get yourself a Leica? It comes with a "passport warranty" which covers falling off an airplane.

It's very nice. I really would have liked it more had it been just ocean behind it, no dock w/people on it. But other wise, angles are good, lighting is relatively good.

Keep up the good work, and make sure to check for background distractions. The first thing I noticed was the people on the dock
Looking for feedback on this picture?
Are you kidding me or what? That is a super super clean photo. What I don't like is the left side where the bridge is and the rock on the right .

Crop the pic a little by removing this and the pic is going to be awesome for a magazine :-)

Very good eye and I commend you for that shoot.
Reply:The exposure and color balance are decent, but the background is quite the distraction, as it runs through the little man's head. Use a wider aperture to make that background go pleasantly fuzzy.
Reply:Always watch the background. The pier is a major distraction especially since its going through your subject's head. A couple of steps to your left would have eliminated it.

As you gain experience you'll learn to pay almost as much attention to the background as you do to your subject. This is not as easy as it sounds so you'll have to remind yourself to do it until it becomes second nature.

Children and pets should be photographed at their level.

Except for the background its a very nice photo.
Reply:cute baby, it's a shame that he has a pier growing out of his head though.

Is it weird to give your teacher origami flowers?

i know how to make origami roses but i don't know if it's weird to give them to my teacher for an end-of-the-year thing. also, one of my teachers is a guy. if i do give them origami roses, what color should i make them?
Is it weird to give your teacher origami flowers?
its a little unconventional... but i think its a good idea! it kind of makes you stand out... because a lot of people might give their teachers gifts but if you give them origami roses it makes you unique... which is always good! and if you decide to give them roses... try to avoid red... b/c red means love... but you could try yellow! yellow roses are for friendship :) but you could also try assorted colors... just depending on what you're going for...

here's a link for rose color meanings... if you're concerned about that:

i hope this helps! :)
Is it weird to give your teacher origami flowers?
your teachers will like it. they love getting little presents from their students. you could make them yellow or purple or any color
Reply:If the teachers hot then go for it. But if your just a teachers pet then shame on you .

The color should be yellow or something else colorful to symbolize summer
Reply:It is your life, live it as you want. You can give your teacher any thing you want. I thing that the origami flowers would be very nice, because it is some thing you made, and can be keep for every.

OPTICAL ILLUSION: Why does this happen?

You stare at this dot for 30 secs and the shading starts to disappear...

http://www.crazyillusions.com/content/il...
OPTICAL ILLUSION: Why does this happen?
Hey the shading went after 10 seconds when i did it lol...

thats a weird one
OPTICAL ILLUSION: Why does this happen?
its all to do with the way that the brain processes detail

you have high definition areas and low definition areas of the brain that pick up the siganls from the optic nerve

when you view the world the eyes only see one bit in detail at any one time and this bit is surprislingly small so when you stare at the dot the brain focuses more on the high definition than the lower so as its fainter and in lower definition it fades away move your eyes and the eyes are scanning the whole image not just in one area so the whole image is displayed

hope this explains it for you :D
Reply:you eye amplifies the dark spot causing the lighter area to cleach out.
Reply:Yeah..the image of the dot is on your fovea on ur retina..the contrast for the shading is poor to start with..guess it just gets averaged out. Try these!

Look in a mirror at your eyes..now without blinking, shift ur eyes left/right..u don't actually see your eyeballs 'tracking'..only their final position. The brain 'switches off' the input from the optic nerve during the motion of the eyeballs to avoid image-processing confusion.

...or stare at a mirror for a minute or so without blinking..if u can..eventually u will 'see' your nose and mouth 'disappear' to be replaced by flesh coloured 'background' texture..similar to your own 'illusion'. There's more to vision than meets the eye!
Reply:Basically because your brain does not believe what you eyes are seeing. and show something else in you head that you brain can except,

Where Can I go in GA to get a professional Portfolio made?

Does anyone know here where I can go in the State of GA ( Prefer. Savannah ) to get a Professional Portfolio made to give Modeling agencies ect.? Please if you know let me know ASAP. and you if you could give me more info on this let me know that too, like any contacts whom I can talk with or more about portfolios, ect. Thanks!!
Where Can I go in GA to get a professional Portfolio made?
Um typically the person makes their own portfolio, the portfolio itsself the book and the material used and how it is made is part of what they will be looking at.

if you mean however who can you go to to have them take photos of you to go into your portfolio, well you will have to look for a fashion photographer, and be prepared to pay him pretty good to take the photos. Once you start getting jobs as a model, make sure you write in your contracts that you will have rights to use a certain number of images in your portfolio, and you continue to upgrade the images over time to reflect what you have to offer at the present.
Where Can I go in GA to get a professional Portfolio made?
Look for some local photographers who have profiles listed on the modeling and photographer networking sites like One Model Place and Model Mayhem .... find at least five or six who's work you like and then contact them ... many will shoot TFP sessions which will save you some money.

Get as much face time in front of the camera with different photographers. Each photographer has a different style, so each one you shoot with, will capture a different look.

Enjoy ... Savannah has some wonderful locations for shooting. I shot on Cumberland Island a few years ago and if you can take the time to go there, you will have some amazing backgrounds.

Where can I find an icon or picture of my name?

What sites would be good and explain to me how to make prints?

Are their any good sites to post pictures of your art so you can get reviews and such. Other than this of course. Also I have a lot of art that I've done and I dont really feel like just giving them away should I sell some. And when I look at art online I sometime see that the art is a "print". Now I know that its pretty much a copy of the first piece of art but how do I make a print and who do you go to talk to to make a print?

Is this picture I drew of a soldier good?
Yeah, I think its really good. amazing.
Is this picture I drew of a soldier good?
its decent if your really going for the realistic look but If I were you I would make it look realistic but some what scary maybe even a little damaged/mutated. sloppy doesnt mean its bad.
Reply:I think you got the uniform nailed. The face of the soldier seems a little bit unnatural to me, though. The mouth needs work and the nose is too long, but the eyes are just about right. Faces, like hands, can be very difficult. I think your drawing shows considerable promise. Study photographs of mouths to help yourself improve in that area. The nose length is much less of a problem, in my opinion. Study photographs for facial proportions as well. You are likely to be very good in the very near future.
Reply:To make it better increase the Contrast. Push the darks darker. Other than that great work.

be patient, go through some help and tutorials with program, start with what you may want to learn first, then gradually pick up ideas as you go, if you have a camera, maybe take so photo outdoors tomorrow, and edit and adjust lighting, test some of the effects, practice touchups and air brushing, what may be handy later is a tablet, photoshop 7 has much the same as other photoshops, less the auto advance option of cs versions,

How can I remove porcelain paint from my hands?

I was painting up a sheet of glass (artwork piece) The idea was to have a light behind it so the piece would be lit up. I noticed that my original painting (of a hand) wasn't opaque enough. I decided to cover the back with a knowingly opaque porcelain paint. I didn't like having a solid backing either, and got the stupid idea to trace out a border using my fingers.

Needless to say, porcelain paint generally isn't water based, so the better half of my fingers is currently yellowed with said paint. Soap/water doesn't remove it. I started scrubbing with acetone, and it burns.

Help!?

I want to start doing in-home photography, I have a couple questions though.?

I want to start doing infant photography, where I go to the mother's house and take the picures there for her. Where can I get some more camera info (I already am experienced, just need some refreshing) and what kind of equipment can I first start out with? Are there any sites that could guide me through this, or someone that has done it first hand? I also wanted to know if there are any personal sites where I can get ideas from? One other thing, when I take my pictures, where do I go to get them developed and printed? Do I take them to a regular place and then just charge more? Thanks so much!

-Tara
I want to start doing in-home photography, I have a couple questions though.?
You'll need to get some decent lights and learn how to use them

www.strobist.com

Minimum equipment will be three pocket wizards and two off-camera flashes, plus stands and umbrellas.

You want a Canon Xti or better.

Deliver a CD and let the client print them - you can burn a CD on the spot with the right laptop.
I want to start doing in-home photography, I have a couple questions though.?
I can only help you with the last part of your question. There's a big difference between having pictures developed at say, Walgreens, and having them developed at an independent photo shop. I say go with the quality, independent shop and charge a bit more. If your clients have had pictures developed at both, they'll understand. If not, show them the difference. Also, an independent shop can help with your equipment questions.
Reply:You can use just about any DSLR camera and lens combinations you have used before using the same skills you have used for shooting portraits in the past.

Lighting and background will be important. Savage makes a nice portable background system that can hold rolls of paper or cloth backgrounds.

You will have to decide whether incandescent or studio flash is appropriate.

A good portable studio will cost around $500 for a three light kit, $200 for the stand and background. Figure around $1,500 for the camera lens combination. For studio flash, figure about $5,000.

To pay for this, you will have to charge both a sitting fee (from $200 to $300) and then charge them for each print based upon what others photographers in your community are charging.

Pens on canvas?

i want to use deco paint markers on canvas but the canvas is often too rough. could i sand it down lightly to get a smoother surface? or would that ruin it?
Pens on canvas?
you could try layering several coats of gesso and then lightly sanding it down rather than sanding the canvas itself. also maybe see if there is a difference in the texture and grain with cotton vs linen canvas. good luck!
Pens on canvas?
I gesso my canvases, then apply a coat of white paint. Then I use oil paint markers.

However, you probably don't have to go to this much trouble. Pre-stretched canvases come in several grades. If you want a completely smooth surface to use your deco markers on all you have to do is buy the grade of canvas that's been labeled 'museum grade'. It costs a little more but it's perfect for your needs. Or you can simply buy 'professional grade' or 'student grade' canvases and apply a coat of white paint. The paint coat will make the surface as smooth as you need it to be.

By the way, you don't need to sand down or gesso (or prime) a pre-stretched canvas because they are already primed. Gesso is for raw canvas that artist buy who stretch their own canvases.
Reply:Hi, I think you should rather use a primer on you canvas before you start.
Reply:Use binder medium to seal it.

I cannot get a good picture!?

okay so i have the Polaroid i735 digital camera, the pink breast cancer awareness edition (just incase one of you may have it and knows the settings!) and i just cant seem to get good pictures of myself out of it! the camera is great overall, takes great great pictures of other people... i dont know if its because im not photogenic or what! im not an ugly person, id give myself an 8, but i just cannot take a decent photo too save my life!:( i guess there is nothing i can do but take the occasional decent photo with a grain of salt. but if any of you have any tips on this issue please let me know what you do!!!!! thanks
I cannot get a good picture!?
try having someone else take a photo of you or use the timer photo function, because when taking "myspace" style photos your hands tend to wobble more and the cam cant take the best shot possible.
I cannot get a good picture!?
Maybe take of the flash and put it on slow synchro so u dont come out so white if you are white..and put it on self timer and back up and let the camera take the picture..also try not to shake the camera and maybe try diffrent settings

Reply:My dear--even if you had an $8,000 camera, you cannot get a good photo of yourself. Nor can I.

When you hold the camera at an arm-length and shoot a photo of yourself, your face is pretty much distorted. Your nose is twice the size it normally is--and all that. Just forget it and let someone else take the photo. I think you realize this already.

Glamour models?

is there any good sites to get images of glamour models

i need the images to use for a magazine i am producing for college
Glamour models?
Try free stock photography websites... What exactly do you mean by glamour models, also?

Or you could just hire models. Or get volunteers. You're in college, and you probably know people... ask some to take a few pictures or something.

No brushes?

On photoshop 7.0 when i click the brushes tab thing nothing is clickable on the menu?

i mean shouldnt i atleast have some brushes to start with?

how do i get them and what do i do with them after i get them and are they free?
No brushes?
Click the palette button (it looks like a gray square) on the right side of the options bar for the painting tools, erasing tools, toning tools, and focus tools. If you don't see it, click on the pencil tool and see if it appears.

If you can not find it, you may need to load the brushes library.

Choose Edit %26gt; Preset Manager. From the Preset Type drop down menu select "brushes". Click "Load".

I think Montana hardcore is a bit less expensive. Otherwise, the quality, color range and durability are about the same.

What is 18% gray in cinematography?

its about Gray card.
What is 18% gray in cinematography?
18% gray card is used when using a reflective light meter to get a good light reading. When shooting film, we usually use a studio incident light meter, so no gray card is necessary.

If you buy a Kodak 18%/white card, they include a full explanation now to use the card.

The 18% gray card is also use when shooting still photography, so most photographer will know how to use the gray card as well
What is 18% gray in cinematography?
meters in mainly every camera out there use whats called reflective metering to find an exposure. reflective metering measures the light reflecting off the subject, so in order to get an average reading of the scene, the meter ALWAYS shoots for 18% grey, which is precisely between black and white. its works great when there are both whites and blacks in the scene, but in a scene of all white or all black, problems occur.

so the grey card allows your camera to read the scene as an incident meter would, in that it measure light falling on a subject, over light reflected.

so if you shot an image in the snow, the meter would underexpose in trying to make the white become grey, and if you were shooting a black cat, it would overexpose it to become grey.

you take an exposure reading of the grey card by itself in the same light as your subject, and you get an accurate exposure.

i still use them in rare circumstances, but im sure were in the minority in that department.
